Build your own golf simulator button box
, by Bruce Gangelhoff
A golf simulator button box is a set of big buttons that send your simulator software's hotkeys. You can buy one finished, or build your own from a kit. Here is how the kits differ, so you pick the right one the first time.

No soldering: the snap-together kits
- Mini DIY kit: box, 12 buttons, 13 wire harnesses, a wireless encoder with dongle and an 18650 battery holder. About 10 minutes to build. Snap together, no soldering, no screws. The GSPro-style layout is printed on top.
- SkyTrak Course Play kit: the same idea with the SkyTrak Course Play layout printed on the box and a snap-on backplate. PC only.
- No-soldering wireless kit: a curated set of parts to build a wireless control box; you supply the battery. Watching the assembly video is required.
These kits work with any launch monitor and any sim software, because you program what each button sends with JoyToKey (free).
Soldering required: the expert kits
- DIY V2 Expert Edition: the V2 design, one AA battery that can last up to two years and about 30 feet of range. You must know how to solder, follow wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electronics. Instructional video only.
- V.3 DIY kit: expert only. Contact Ba before you buy.
Parts
Empty printed shells for 24 mm and 30 mm buttons, 24 mm black and white buttons, 30 mm buttons and the wireless USB encoder, the wireless brain of a DIY box. See everything in Build your own.
What the kits do not include
Kits and parts carry a 30-day out-of-the-box warranty: they work when they arrive. After that you build it, and there is no build support. The 1-year Trust Me Bro Guarantee and Ba's support come with the finished boxes. If you want plug and play, see the V2.5 and the SimMarshal.
The simulator hotkey list has the keys to program for GSPro, SkyTrak Course Play and TGC 2019.
