Golf simulator accessories that make every round faster
, by Bruce Gangelhoff
A golf simulator round slows down in the same places every time: walking back to the keyboard to take a mulligan, reaching for the mouse when the ball goes in the water, and waiting for the PC to get to the range. Here is what fixes each one, from the shop that builds them.

A wireless control box at the mat
A golf simulator control box, also called a button box or hotkey box, puts the controls you use most at your feet: aim, club up and down, tee position, mulligan, heat map, putt, flyover and shot cam. You press them by hand or with the end of a club, and you stop walking back to the keyboard between shots.
Every BA box is wireless and sends the hotkeys your simulator software already has, so there is nothing to program for the base functions:
- The V2.5 is the GSPro and PurePlay box: 14 big buttons, an RF dongle, years on one AA battery.
- The SimMarshal is the Bluetooth box for FSX Play, TGC 2019, SkyTrak Course Play and GSPro.
- The Companion adds the six functions a touchscreen leaves out in GSPro.
It does not matter which launch monitor you have; what matters is the software. See which control box works with my simulator.
Second functions, mouse clicks included
Free BA Remapper gives every button a second job. Hold Shift, then press the button to get its second function. Shift is the Reset Aim button. Smart Clicks read GSPro's relief menu off the screen and click it for you, so a ball in the water no longer means a trip to the mouse. Auto-Pick Scramble picks the best ball when the scramble cards come up.
A stand and steady power
The snap-on angle brackets prop the V2.5 or the SimMarshal at an easy viewing angle, no tools. The dummy AA battery drops into the battery spot and runs the box from a USB power brick, so you never change a battery.
A bay PC that starts itself
BayLauncher replaces the Windows desktop with big game cards: tap a card to play, and one button closes everything the card opened and brings the cards back. It is free.
Running a ProTee VX with GSPro? Free ProTee AutoStart turns "turn the bay PC on" into the whole job: it clicks through the startup windows, opens the practice range and resets the aim.
